Last weekend the Kollabora team flew out to Chicago for the first ever Vogue Knitting LIVE event in the mid-west. We took this amazing opportunity to debut the new Kollabora yarn with an exclusive yarn bar, and to show off some amazing projects from our site including the ever popular Yoshimi Knit Dress and Snood Dogg from Wool and the Gang.
With the help of The Savoy Flea in Chicago we were able to make the booth more like a cozy, crafty living room. Amanda Jarvis of Lorna's Laces lent a helping hand all weekend and seriously schooled us with her yarn knowledge. She also gave us a tour of the magnificent Lorna's Laces studio complete with hand-dying in action:
We met tons of eager knitters and crocheters hunting for their perfect yarn purchase. It was wonderful to introduce Kollabora to a new community!
Vickie Howell and Debbie Stoller hosted signings of their books at our booth. Crowds came to snag a copy of Vickie's Step it Up Knits and Debbie's Superstar Knitting and the original New York Times Bestseller The Knitter's Handbook.
On Saturday we were lucky to attend the Vogue Knitting Gala, celebrating 30 years of beautiful, fashionable knits. Complete with wonderful company, a fantastic meal, a gorgeous fashion show, and gift bags, it was a night to remember. Not to mention the absolutely stunning and historic Palmer House Hotel as the venue. The keynote speech was given by the inspirational Debbie Macomber who shared her incredible work with World Vision and the Knit for Kids program, which gives children in need knit hats, gloves, scarves, and warm winter wear.
Vogue Knitting LIVE Chicago was spectacular and we can't wait for the New York event in January! We plan to have an even bigger and better presence with more of our yarns and we can't wait to reconnect with all of the talented and friendly knitters, crocheters, designers, and teachers we met in Chicago. See you in New York!
