Meet the Maker: Jenny Hart from Sublime Stitching by Kollabora Follow

posted 9 months ago

My name is Jenny Hart and my crafty alter-ego is Sublime Stitching

Today I'm freaking out (in a good way) about the new product line I’ve been working on for a year and am about to release!

My crafting weapons of choice are embroidery hoops, needles and thread and when I think up a new project I want to start it immediately.

My favorite designer is: too many to name, so I’ll stick to embroidery - Francois Lesage, Karen Nicol, Mariska Karasz. When I am looking for inspiration I like to read or listen to music. and after a long day of making things, I like to share a bottle of wine with my favorite person.

I got started crafting when I was four, doesn’t everyone craft as a child? I began embroidering when I was 28. What I like best about embroidery is that it presents endless variations and possibilities.

What I wish I would have known before starting my business is that it would never become any easier, only present new, ongoing and different challenges.

If I ever stop creating, you'll find me (Is it possible to stop creating?) Teaching French. Happily.

I can’t live without one sweet, affectionate cat nearby.

To me, DIY means making possible what appears impossible in the face of limited resources through community, creativity, resourcefulness, ingenuity and enthusiasm.

The fictional character I relate to most is Laura Ingalls Wilder (semi-fictional)

My favorite thing about making is stepping away from it for a while and coming back to it with fresh eyes.
