Saturday Roundup: New Year/New Skills by Kollabora Follow

posted 1 year ago

The second week of 2013 got off to a super exciting and dreamy start with the announcement of our expedition to Peru. Way to start out with a bang. Not for the faint hearted, this trip is a fully immersive adventure into the art and craft of peruvian alpaca wool making, spinning, dyeing, and later knitting and crafting...and from the looks of our twitter feed this week, it looks like you guys are a wee bit excited too.

Next up for us was the launch of our learn to knit campaign starting with the Newbie Knitted Headband. With this easy to follow tutorial, you'll be keeping your ears warm in no time. Now don't forget to check back next week to learn how to keep your hands warm too. There's nothing worse than cold hands in the dead of winter.

And while we're still on the subject of knitting, we got busy this week in preparation for Vogue Knitting Live NYC, coming up next weekend Jan 18-20. While out at lunch one day, Susan and Glenn had a great idea to pick up this giant spool off the curb (hey, one man's trash...) to create a giant yarn spool for our booth. Come check it out if you're in town. We'll be at booth 318/320

Some notable additions to Kollabora HQ this week were 1. a sneak peek at an upcoming swoon worthy knitted garment and 2. thanks to Susan's loving parents, finger lickin good cupcakes delivered on her birthday. Who doesn't love cupcakes? Half our crew packed up and headed to the Crafts and Hobby Association trade show which meant there were more for those of us who stayed behind...Yay!!

Finally, while we're all learning new skills this year, Kollaboramates included, get inspired by this collection of headband trends. All you need is time and a little patience to hone your new skill, then who knows, your design could feature as one of the top trends by this time next year!

See you next week, there's so much more to come and we're quietly giddy about it...

xoxo

This is a side note but last Friday, my company hosted a knitting 101 workshop. I can sew anything, body parts included, but I do not know how to knit. Briefly put, I was horrible! The worst in the class by far! Looks like I should stick to what I'm good at - sewing!
