We're looking for a Marketing Director (starting date is February 2014)
Join Kollabora and help create the story of a unique maker culture.
This is Kollabora
Kollabora (pronounced koll-ah-bora) is a leader in the maker world. Kollabora operates a platform that is a catalyst for making - offering community, know-how, sourcing, inspiration, and connection to DIY makers. Kollabora is rejuvenating an old tradition with the best modern technology. Our audience are style- and quality-conscious lovers and makers of original crafts.
Kollabora is a growth stage startup with funding from Khosla Ventures, Collaborative Fund, Allen & Co. LLC, 500 Startups, and prominent entrepreneurs and executives from the startup community.
Kollabora is shaping the future of collaborative making and learning. We have an awesome core team and are looking for great people to help us define the future of our company and the industry. We are looking for someone that would thrive in the challenging and amazing environment of a DIY fashion and maker startup that will change the way people consume and create.
Kollabora believes that we are what we make, and that people should have creative alternatives to complement their consumer options. They should have the opportunity to make what they're inspired by, and that's why we aim to foster a real community here at Kollabora. Our name, after all, comes from "collaboro", the Latin word for working together: users and our editorial team are inspiring and teaching each other how to make things, which is what community is all about!
Kollabora is located in the creative hub of SoHo in NYC and is powered by an experienced team
We work out of a loft in SoHo, NY with roof-access. Near stores, restaurants, and cafes, only a few blocks away from most major subway lines.
The team consists of smart, talented, and supportive people with cross functional expertise.
Our founder and CEO, Nora Abousteit, has been a leader in the digital craft field for over 6 years, previously founding the largest sewing community in the world (www.BurdaStyle.com) with almost 1 million members. CTO Tommi Forsstrom has 12 years of experience in developing commerce sites and working on SEO and visibility. Our team members have a unique combination of deep domain expertise and passion for “making”.
