7 days - 7 embroidery stitches

Starting today, I publish tutorials to the 7 stitches I think are the most basic and versatile ones. All 7 stitches I use in my work constantly. I think it’s important to stretch one’s skills to more than one or two embroidery stitches because it makes such a difference and enhaces the possibilities and quality of embroidery when you use a variety of stitches.

1. day: running stitch

2. day: back stitch

3. day: stem stitch

4. day: chain stitch

5. day: herringbone stitch

6. day: satin stitch

7. day: french knot

Hi, I have not been onto embroidery very much but I knit a lot for my local hospitals baby unit, these tutorials will help me to add that little something extra to a plain cardigan as they are not over keen on a lot of openwork for very small baby's.

Great!  I must warn you embroidering is addictive ;)

I've always been scared of trying the satin stitch, but now I know you have to embroider the shape first before filling it in, I'm going to give it a try!

It's totally worth giving it a try :)
