Alabama Chanin Slow Sewing Skirt
by Giddy (made with love) Follow

Sewing a skirt the Alabama Chanin way with six panels. So far the panels are cut, the stencil has been made and applied. Now the sewing begins. This time I'm going for back stitch with the knots on the outside.... It's going to take a long while!

  • Panel 1 complete: stencilled, back stitch outline shapes, (knots left on front of fabric) cut interior shapes  for reverse appliqué.  Only 5 more to go!

    first panel completed.

  • This comes along in fits and starts depending on how busy I am, slow, slow, quick, quick, slow. 3 panels now finished.

  • All the panels are sewn at last, now I'm hand sewing it all together. This is the reverse of one of the panels, almost as lovely as the front

  • Side seams together. Now deciding whether to top stitch in some way while I wait for the fold over elastic for the waistband to arrive.
