Super nice basic easy to wear skirt! This is a wardrobe staple!
I did size 6 but I modifiied the waist in size 8. It is well explained in the step by step. Instructions pictures are great. The instructions text are clear.
I use a cotton stretch twill that I dyed as I could not find green fabric. I love green color but most of the time green on fabric or clothes are awful...I don't know why...
I sew with black thread and put black vintage buttons to create some grafic contrast. At the end as iI didn't have enough fabric I cut the inside belt in a black stretch cotton. I love this part...I thought it would have been great to cut the right side of the waistband and the pockets in the same fabric to create a contrast on the top of the skirt...well next time!
Now ther is a sew along! http://www.theruffledstitch.com/sew-alongs
This is the description of the pattern:
"The Button Up Pencil is a straight skirt in two versions. Version One features a full front button placket with slanted pockets. The back features a slanted yoke and back pockets. Version Two features a partial front button placket and slanted pockets. The back is simple and classy leaving Version Two to be easily dressed up. Both versions are knee length and feature a contoured waistband that sits just below the natural waist. The Button Up Pencil can be dressed up with fancier material for work settings, or dressed down by using a casual fabric like denim. Throw on a pair of heels and cardigan to dress it up, or a pair of sneakers and a tee shirt for a casual day out. The options are endless for the button up pencil!!"
