Making this vest by We Are Knitters during their Make-A-Long! Excited!!
Nov. 2nd: I finished it! I really like how it turned out. Knitting this was really easy and because of the bulky yarn it took merely days. Now I know how to make a vest, I'm dying to make more in different colours! Maybe a cable, or a striped version in garter stitch..
I'm looking for some ways to embellish my Eva Vest, I think a patch of leather on the shoulders would look really nice. Or some embroidery maybe?
Knitted 12 rows so far! I'm using a 100% wol yarn and 9mm knitting needles, as I couldn't find any 8mm ones. They are kinda short, but they'll do. Just gotta make sure that when I take a break, I stop knitting in the middle of a row, so no stitches slide off my needles :P I really like the texture!
Okay, so I had to frog back to the start, because the vest was turning out way too wide for me. I guess that's because I'm using 9mm needles instead of 8mm, and maybe my yarn is bulkier too. Plus I'm kinda petite, oversized things just make me look like a miniature person, lol :P So! I started over with just 45 stitches (I know, sounds crazy, but it worked out!). Then, because I want sort of a cropped version, I only knitted 20 rows instead of 34. I followed the cast-off rows and here I am now! I love the way it looks so far!
Also, I opted for a neater edge. To do this, just slip the first stitch. Do this purlwise if you have to purl the next stitch, and knitwise if you have to knit the next stitch. At the end of the row, KNIT the very last stitch, even if the moss stitch actually wants you to purl that one.
Yay, I finished the back part of the vest already! That went really fast, I just love knitting with bulky yarn. For the last part, I didn't knit 40 rows, but 34, because my yarn and needles are slightly bigger. So I knitted 54 rows in total, and I cast off on the 55th row. Can't wait for the next part!
Omggg running out of yarn!! I only brought a few skeins to my place, I guess I'll quickly run by the parents' house this weekend to get more :) I finished one of the front sections, now onto the last part! Pictures coming soon. It's getting dark outside so early lately so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to take good pics with daylight!
Almost done with the front sections! I only have a few meters of yarn left though, so I won't be able to finish it until Saturday, when I can get some more yarn. I can't wait to wear this!
I finished knitting my vest today! Sewing it together happened lickety-split (I've always wanted to use that word, lol). I'll be taking some pictures tomorrow to show you guys!
