Great Do-It-Yourself Ways To Recycle Old Tires
by Heather Roberts Follow

One of the biggest headaches when it comes to waste recycling can be old tires, especially because they tend to take up a lot of space and, quite frankly, we never really seem to know how to properly deal with them when the time comes to get rid of them. Unfortunately, the longer we leave them just laying around, the more of a chance they will have to leak dangerous chemicals into the air around us, which can be extremely hazardous. That is why you should either call a rubbish removal company to dispose of them or find a way to recycle them yourself.

Thankfully, there are many creative and fun things that we can do in order to reuse and recycle those old tires, thereby continuing to put them to good use around our homes! Instead of preparing them for waste disposal you can make use of them. Here are some great do-it-yourself ways that you can recycle old tires.

Recap

  • Tire Climbers

This is something that's perfect for children, and is much cheaper than a playground set that you would normally find at a store. Creating something like this is rather simple, as all you have to do is paint the tires in bright colours and bolt them together in any way that you see fit! It seems that hiring a rubbish collection company is not necessary in this case.

    Planters

There are all sorts of ways that you can use tires to create planters. For instance, depending on the type of tire that you have, there may be a bit of cutting involved, but regardless, you will want to paint the tire in order to give it a nice look. You will also need to cover one side of the tire in order to be able to place soil into it, which will enable things to grow in the tire planter itself.

    Garden Hose Holder

Rather than leaving your garden hose in an area where it can possibly become damaged, consider creating a holder out of an old tire. All you have to do is simply cut the tire itself in half, then coil up the hose inside it! You can even get more creative by painting the tire any colour you wish, even the same colour as your garden shed! Forget about waste removal when you can create such nice things for your garden.

    Sandbox

This is another item that can be so much fun for children, especially during the summertime! The best type of tire to use for this kind of project is a tractor tire due to the fact that they are larger in size. All you have to do is paint the tire itself, then add sand to the interior of it. It's extremely easy and the entire project will take you less than one full day to complete!

    Tire Swing

This is perhaps the most common method that has been used by many people throughout the years in terms of recycling old tires. All you have to do is simply paint the tire (if you wish to do so) then hang it from a sturdy enough tree. This is a swing that is sure to provide the children in your family with loads of fun!

    Obstacle Course

What would an old-fashioned obstacle course be without tires? The best part about this is that you can use any size tires that you wish, and you can even paint them in all sorts of fun colours! However, before anyone starts to run through them, be sure that they are painted (if you wish to do so) and properly affixed to their intended area.

Waste recycling reduces your carbon footprint and saves you money on hiring a professional waste collection service.
