  • Day 2: Finished the ribbing. Knit up about 1/2" of the ankle and then ripped it out because I somehow completely screwed up the stitch pattern. Let's try that again...

    Day 2

  • End of Week 1

The heel flap gave me a lot of trouble. I made an adjustment to the order of the heel flap pattern since I'm working on dpns. I think that's what was screwing me up.

I just changed Row 2 to Row 1 of the Slightly Modified Garter Stitch-edge Eye of Patridge Heel. Here is my Extra Slightly Modified Heel:

    Row 1: p3, *k1, sl 1* to last 3 sts, k3

    Row 2: k3, p to end

    Row 3: p3, *sl 1, K1* to last 3 sts, k3

    Row 4: k3, p to end

Just wanted to say 'Thank you'.  The skein of Jill Draper yarn arrived today.  I will take a picture and post it tomorrow.  It is SOOO beautiful!

  • Donna R Hayes commented 8 years ago

    These are beautiful!

  • Kristin commented 8 years ago

I don't think I'll be done with my socks by the 9th. Any chance the KAL might be extended?

    TheMissLinds replied 8 years ago

You can continue with the knit-along whenever you want! but to participate in the chance to win yarn from Jill Draper you have to get 'em uploaded by the 9th!

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

Keep uploading your progress pics! I'd love to see where you're at! :)

    Kristin replied 8 years ago

Well shoot! I should have made them shorter and then I might be done today. Oh well, at least I have learned a lot! Thanks for the motivation to try something beyond scarves :)

  • Nora commented 8 years ago

What's the size of the needles you're using? They look bigger than mine (but maybe it's wishful thinking from my part...).

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

I'm using size 1. How's your cast on going?

    Nora replied 8 years ago

Well, after a series of frustration with double pointed needles loosing stitches, I switched to the magic loop, and yes, it's truly magic. Am super happy now, it's happening!

  • Nora commented 8 years ago

Ok guys, I'm super late to the party, but finally starting (or rather startging again, I had casted on and messed up, now re-casting...). Hope to catch up!

  • Patricia commented 8 years ago

I love the color of yours, it's such a pretty green!

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

    I love it!!!

  • Donna R Hayes commented 8 years ago

Happy Birthday.  This is beautiful yarn you are using.  I am almost ready to start the heal of my second sock.  Woo Hoo!!!

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

Thanks! Hope your sock is going well! :)

Donna R Hayes replied 8 years ago

My socks are done.  How about yours?

  • Nishi commented 8 years ago

Perfect timing - I am just about to start the heel flap today!  Thank you so much for posting this.  Your socks look great!  I love the colour!

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

Glad we're all on track! :)

  • Donna R Hayes commented 8 years ago

Thank you for posting the heel information.  I am using double pointed needles too.  However, I am going to get some size 1 circular to try knitting socks using the circular needles ... it looks interesting.

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

I've written a little bit about the differences. I prefer dpns but a lot of my friends swear by the magic loop method! I'd love to hear which one you like!

  • Optimistic Crafts commented 8 years ago

Looking good so far! Wish I had started on this! May still try to catch on/catch up! Never made socks before.

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

Thanks! You should definitely give these a try! They're pretty simple and so satisfying!

  • Kate commented 8 years ago

I'm a bit late, but I'm here, I'm here!  Let's go sock crazy woo!  Pity I'm not eligable for the yarn deal but c'est la vie, I have plenty of sock yarn to use up. See you on the other side...  :D

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

Yay! Can't wait to see how they turn out!

  • Michelle Carter commented 8 years ago

Their looking great. Mine seem too big for me but I'm using the smallest needle I have, so if they are they'll make a nice gift.

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

Can you adjust the number of stitches? I know that's a pain but it might work!

  • Scarffaces commented 8 years ago

Love this yarn! If I hadn't just finished knitting these socks I would be in. Next time!! x

  • TheMissLinds commented 8 years ago

    yay super excited!!!

    knityorkcity replied 8 years ago

    Me too! :)
