Libby Headband
by knityorkcity Follow

This simple i-cord headband is three easy steps. You can accessorize it with anything you'd like: flowers, buttons, studs! Directions for the headband and bow are below, and check out the latest episode of Nora Meets the Makers for more info on this project!

Step 1

Gather supplies.

Step 2

Knit a 5 stitch i-cord for the length of your heaband.

(The i-cord is knit by casting on 5 stitches and then slipping the stitches to the right so that the working yarn is on the left. Then knit into the stitches on the right as you normally would. Continue working this way until you've reached your desired length. You've made a tube! It's really that simple!)

Step 3

Feed metal headband into the tube so that it is covered end to end by the i-cord. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail and pass it through the stitches, sewing the ends closed (so the headband doesn't fall out). Weave in the tails.

Step 4

Customize your headband with any accessories you want!

This one has a bow which is worked as follows:

Cast on 12 stitches.
Knit in stockinette stitch for 6 inches.
Bind off.
Sew ends together using the mattress stitch.
Cut a long piece of yarn (about 6") and wrap it around the center of the bow, over the seam. This will be the "knot".
Sew onto the headband.
