This is my second attempt at quilting and a first attempt at producing a baby quilt as a gift for a colleague. It's been quite some time in the making as 2016 was not a good year for me and I can't seem to quilt if my head isn't in the right space or my heart isn't in it. I finally finished it over the Christmas holidays so that's a nice, positive start to the New Year!
The pattern was inspired by the Keera Job's 'Over the rainbow' quilt published in Love Partchwork and Quilting magazine (issue 31) but I've redesigned the blocks to suit the smaller format, the lovely Makower fabrics I bought at my local sewing shop and my still limited quilting skills.
I learned a lot making this quilt but, as you can probably tell by the pictures, I've not yet figured out a good way to iron the quilt after washing (it needed washing to get the starch out of the fabric). I'd love to get the wrinkles out better but wouldn't want to flatten the batting too much. Does anybody have any tips?
