my yellow dress

As funny as it may sound - pattern for this dress comes from May 1990. issue of Burda! Hunting old Burda magazines is one of my favorite hobbies, but when you come across the ones from the 90s you don't expect much. Imagine my surprise with this one - there's a several patterns in it that I wanna sew immediately!

This dress comes in size 20, which is like petite version of size 40. Since I'm almost 180cm tall and I wear size 38 I added 1.5cm to bodice length and I took back and side seams in a bit. I also made neckline lower, the original one was a bit too high and combined with gathering it made my bewbs look like they start from  my chin! Which (unfortunately?) they do not :D
In retrospect I think I should've take it in even more, bodice is quite loose on me - especially around the waist and under the arms. Fit wise this irritates me, but on the other hand I love how loose and non restrictive it feels - it's very comfortable for summer heat! I think I'll leave it be for this summer, and then maybe fix it for the next year. We'll see how it goes :)

I know that if I say it every time I make something new the statement kinda loses its strength - but this dress is my favorite one ever! Seriously! I love the cut, little ruched sleeves and full flowy skirt. Also, I really really love the fabric - I was stashing this cotton voile for I don't how long! It feels good to finally use it for something :)
Big thanks to Marija for taking this photos - she needed a model for her photography class assignment and I needed pictures of my new dress. Match made in heaven :)

Thank you! I love that detail as well, it reminds me of Sewaholic Cambie dress.
