So I've always loved crocheting but I always felt like I make the same flat slouchy hat everytime with the same technique and wanted to branch out and try something new.
I always wanted to make a crocheted beanie so I decided to look it up on youtube and I found this great tutorial from Crochet Geek that I thought I would share and what my end product was!
I like to mix colors with two different colors of yarn because it yields to surprising and fun results so I used a brown-cream alpaca yarn and paired it with a super fine red mohair yarn.
I wear a lot of neutral colors so this was a nice way to sneak in color without it screaming out of my everyday outfits.

I love the yarn combo! Crochet beanies are fun to make.
Thank you! I actually never knew that there is a way to crochet a beanie until I stumbled on this tutorial so I was happy to be able to make one for myself. Do you know any other beanie crochet tutorials I can try out?
This is crocheted? It looks knit! Beautiful! And I LOVE how you mixed the mohair with the chunky hunk! It's sucha a cool look.
Yes it is! I am a clumsy knitter and tend to drop stitches easily so I settled with crocheting a while back - also much easier for me to carry and work elsewhere. I am used to the slouchy flat crochet hats so I was so happy to see that there was a crochet beanie out there for me to learn!
Cute!
yay anna you're back! love the mixture of textures. is it easier/quicker to crochet rather than knit a beanie?
Yes, I am back in the gear of making again :] I say yes to both (easier/quicker) but I might be biased - I tend to get clumsy with knitting and realize 20 rows later I have dropped a stitch so redoing and all that takes up time! Some of my knitter friends might disagree and say knitting is much easier since they can't grasp crocheting. It's quick also because you don't have to pay too much attention to maintain the tension of the crochet. Also perks are that it's easily transportable!
